Roy Lake Ice Fishing Report

Ice conditions are from 10 to 15 inches and are of good quality for the most part. Some people are driving vehicles and others are using ATV's. Always ask around a lake if there is anything you should know about the ice.

Walleyes, Northerns, Perch, Crappie and Blue Gills are biting. This maybe the best time to come this winter. Weather has been fairly decent with warmer than normal conditions. Air temperatures at night are below freezing (16 degrees when I woke up this morning.  Daytime temps are comfortable with little wind. I have been ice fishing and catching primarily perch but also some walleye and northern.

I have a fabulous guide in Gary Gangle. He is a 4th Roy Lake and a retired school teacher.  He is a phenomenal fisherman and hunter and everyone is coming or has come back for another trip. As one resort friend said, ?I have made a friend for Life?.  Gary is also very inexpensive and doesn?t have a minimum of 3-days or 3-fishermen as many guides do.  If you know of someone who wants to ice fish and doesn?t have the equipment this is the way to go with Gary.  He charges $75.00 per day per person which includes equipment and set up. He will take very good care of you. The picture of Scott with the 2.1 oz. perch is Gary?s son.

I would have more pictures but I did a lot of the family stuff this winter. But I did eat fish and plan on making a pike chowder soon.

Be sure to email soon for reservations.
